The government has released Shs. 8,681,291,670 to public primary and secondary schools under the Free Primary and Free Day Secondary Education funds, the Principal Secretary for Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang has disclosed.
He said the government has send Shs. 6,640,417,269 to meet the Freed Day Secondary Education programmes for 2.5 million students in 8,526 public secondary schools in the country.
Some Shs.2million is towards capitation funds for 8,903,703 learners in 22,262 primary schools under the Free Primary Education programme.
Dr. Kipsang said the government had fully paid for the free primary and free day secondary education for second term and third term.
A further Shs226, 499,371 has been disbursed primary schools under the Special Primary Schools and Units grants, Dr. Kipsang added.
He said the funds will cater for children with Special Education Needs (SNE) in special and integrated primary schools.
Some Shs.200 million has also been send to low coast Boarding schools in Arid and Semi-Arid (ASAL) regions in the country.
